Striped Bass (Morone saxatilis):
The largest member of the temperate bass family the Stiped Bass is olive green and silver or bluish gray on the back with silver sides and a white belly. Stripers have seven or eight distinctive black uninterrupted horizontal stripes along the sides. The striper is long and sleek and has a large head when compared to it's close looking relative the white bass.
Stripers are agressive feeders and will feed on any kind of small fish and many small invertebrates. Stripers live in schools and will follow shad, shiners or minnows. Striped Bass tend to feed more in early morning and evening but can be caught throughout the day. Striper fishing is hotest when the water tempature is above 50 degrees.
