Largemouth Bass:
Catching Largemouth Bass is one of our favorite past times. With the Largemouth's pole jerking strikes or eruption on a top water lure they are very fun to catch. I especially love the top water action and one of my favorite ways to catch em' is dragg'n a live frog over lily pads. This often drives that lunker bonkers. Tip of the day. Frogs are easier to catch during the colder part of the day as they get sluggish. Make sure it's legal in your state to use them for bait. (continued below photo)
Catch yourself 6 or 8 palm sized frogs. Put them in a perforated minnow bucket. Always hook your frog lightly through the lips. Hook to deep and you may stun or kill it and you want that frog kick'n. Sneak up on a patch of lily pads and cast that frog up towards the shore. Use low flying, smooth and easy casts or flippin. Smacking that frog on the water too hard will stun it and you want that frog kick'n. Drag that frog up onto a lily pad and let him sit for a bit (this is easier than it sounds because that frog wants nothing more than to be out of the water). Next twitch that frog off the lily pad into the water and drag him up onto the next lily pad. Be ready for strikes when the frog slides off the pad. Watch the surrounding pads for movement as the Largemouth Bass will bump into the stems as it cruises over to see what's for lunch.
Who Caught The Biggest Bass Of All?
A fisherman from Carlsbad may have caught the worlds next record largemouth bass. "May have" because Mac Weakley said he foul hooked the monster bass.
